Colossians 2:6-23

A   6 As you therefore received the Christ, Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, 7 rooted and being built up in Him and being confirmed in the faith as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 Beware, lest anyone who is deceiving you through the philosophy which is empty deceit, according to the tradition of human beings,  according to the elemental forces of the world, and not according to Christ.

B  9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the deity bodily, 10 and you are complete in Him having been and being filled, who is the head of ever principality and authority. (2:9-10)

C   11 In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands in the removal of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of the Christ, 12 having been buried with Him in the baptism, in whom indeed you were raised with Him through faith in the working of the God who raised Him from the dead.

C’   13 And you, being dead in your transgressions and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He brought you to life along with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having obliterated the handwritten charge against us with its decrees, which was opposed to us, and this He has taken from our midst, having nailed it to the cross,

B’  15 having removed the principalities and the authorities, he exposed them in public, leading them away in triumph in him. 16 Let then no one judge you in food and in drink or in regard to a festival or new moon or sabbaths, 17 which things are a shadow of the things that were to come, but the body belongs to the Christ. 18 Let no one condemn you, delighting in humility and worship of the angels, going into detail about what thing he had seen, vainly being made arrogant by the mind of his flesh, 19 not holding to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together through ligaments and bonds, grows with the growth that is from God.

A’   20 Therefore, if you died with Christ from the elemental forces of the world, why let yourselves be subjected to  decrees as if living in the world? 21“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle” – 22 which things are all destined for destruction in being consumed – according to the commandments and teaching of human beings; 23 these things have indeed a reputation of wisdom in self-chosen worship and humility and severe treatment of the body, not of value to anyone against self-indulgence of the flesh.
